There’s trouble in Arcadia, a far away land, where donkeys rule the world. The pigs are about to take over and the snakes are waiting to get to the side of the strongest. Snarly, a young snake tries to convince a group that their attitude is totally wrong and they should choose a side before the war. The other snakes kill him. Write a scene in which Snarly tries to convince the group to do the right thing, and two of the others kill him. Raise the tension and make the killing to be an unexpected twist.

You are a modern wizard in a urban setting, let’s say San Francisco. You just began to discover your magic a few days ago when you threw a thunder out of your hand. You are perplexed about your powers and go by exploring them more. Write a scene of at least one page in which your character wakes up the next morning still unsure if what he experienced the day before was real or just a dream. Take him through his morning, uncovering various other magical skills. Use internal dialogue and description. Don’t involve other characters.

As a detective in NYPD, you’ve seen your share of horrible crimes. But this time you are facing a monster. A serial killer who raped, torture and murdered twenty people is behind bars. There is proof that there are other 10 victims out there and you are sent to interrogate the prisoner in an attempt to find the location of those graves. Write a scene in which your protagonist, the detective, interrogates the inmate. Give the killer a particular voice, and build tension with the dialogue.

Make sure at least Zeus has a very specific and recognizable voice.

The letter just says: “Take a plane to Paris and be on top of the Eifel tower on July 24th, at 3PM.” Write a scene that describes the way from the airport to the Eifel tower. Don’t put too much detail in describing Paris, instead use inner thoughts to create suspense and mystery. Describe the character’s inner struggle.
